I use 1 inch cut off discs at times with Dremel. 1/2 inch Carbide burrs, 2 inch wire brush, cutoff or grinding discs powered by electric or air die grinders. 4.5inch disk grinders get lots of use some with dedicated sanding disks or wire brush. Some bigger air and electric grinders are also used. Sometimes smaller is better.

Assuming your grinder takes wheels with a 7/8" hole. Go with 6" diameter wheels. Yes you have to take the guard off. The 4" wheels have only about 3/4" of useable wheel before the gearbox starts getting in the way of what you are cutting. Get the 1/16" or .060 thick wheels. The .040 wheels will flap and are dangerous.

so I got the ryobi 5.5 amp corded 4.5 inch angle grinder. Will I be able to cut off a bolt with the proper disc? some of the comments say it’s only for grinding and sanding, some mention it cuts somewhat. I just bought it so, would like to know if it is the right tool otherwise I’ll return it and get the right tool.
